English

At Chase View Community Primary School, English is at the heart of our curriculum, fostering a love of language, storytelling, and effective communication. From early phonics to creative writing, we help children build confidence in their literacy skills.

Our approach combines traditional teaching with innovative practices. We encourage reading for pleasure, introducing pupils to a wide range of literature that sparks imagination and broadens their understanding of the world.

Writing is a key focus, with pupils learning to express themselves clearly and creatively. Through structured lessons and cross-curricular opportunities, we develop their ability to write for different audiences and purposes.

Speaking and listening skills are equally important. We promote discussions, presentations, and debates, helping children articulate their ideas with confidence and respect for others’ viewpoints.

With a dedicated team of staff and a wealth of resources, our English programme equips pupils with the essential skills they need to succeed in school and beyond.
